Joey and Pattie get Married!

April 19th 2019. It was a gorgeous day. I woke up to hear the birds chirping and the waves crashing. It was wedding day for Joey and Pattie. I had arrived at the resort Riu Palace in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, two days prior. The resort was breathtaking. Upon arriving at the airport, I was flooded with the local culture and vendors with tequila carts. After I grabbed my luggage, It was a 45 minute shuttle ride to the resort. The staff greeted me with friendly smiles and assistance with my bags. Check-in was such a simple process. Unlike some of the hotels I've stayed in across the US. They checked me in, gave me my wrist band, room keys, and pool key. My room was HUGE! Especially since I had it all to myself. I immediately wanted a shower. If you've ever had a full day worth of flights, you know what I'm talking about. The bathrooms were nothing short of "spa like". Rain shower heads and enough toiletries to wonder why I brought my own. Thankfully they provided them, because the staff takes your bags upon arrival and delivers them to your door. Kind of like a cruise ship. And that didn't happen for about an hour. Either way, I was grateful for them.

The next 24 hours were filled with a welcome party (thrown by the bride and groom), live entertainment, and all you can eat food! Did I mention that this was an all-inclusive resort? Finally the big day was here! I met with Pattie and her family for breakfast and then it was off to the hotel spa to get bridal hair and makeup done for Pattie and her Maid of Honor. The spa staff were so professional! And not to mention, pretty speedy with the process. Immediately after that, we headed back to the honeymoon suite where the rest of the bridesmaids were getting ready. Pattie had both, a bridal party reveal and a first look with her father in her dress. SO. MANY. FEELS! I cried. Like a baby.

The ceremony came, and with it, Joey's tears as he saw his beautiful wife-to-be walk down the aisle. They have been together since college. 7 years total. This has been a long time coming. And the emotions were high. I don't think there was a dry eye on the beach. Their written vows were that of a fairytale. The whole day was! Once we finished formal photos, it was time for dinner. My favorite part of the day. There was a 5 course meal presented to us on the terrace of their outdoor reception hall. It was DELICIOUS! I swear I gained at least 5 pounds in 4 days. After dinner, there were speeches and first dances. Then, it was time to party! The DJ was on fire! All of us were gross and sweaty from all the dancing by the end of the night. The thing that stood out to me the most was the way that Joey and Pattie always made sure their guests were being taken care of. As if it wasn't even about them. They just wanted to share their love with the world. And I am so incredibly honored that they chose me to document it. Until next time, Mexico!
